Sylvester Darvin


Mr. Sylvester Darvin, Senior Research Fellow of Division of Ethnopharmacology at Entomology Research Institute, Loyola College, 2014- till now and waiting for his Doctoral award in the field of Ethnopharmacology and Toxicology, He started his career in number one college  in India, Department of Advanced Zoology and biotechnology, Loyola college till 2014, He got her M.Sc. in Zoology, Loyola College (Affiliated with Madras University) 2014; B.Sc. In Advanced Zoology and Biotechnology, Loyola College (Affiliated with Madras University) 2012; Through his 5 years of research voyage, he has made significant contributions in the field of Zoology and now Ethnopharmacology. He has an award of Rev.Fr. A. J. THAMBURAJ. S.J Award (for Environmental awareness) 2014 for developing the novel tool to remove metals from powdered printed circuit boards at Loyola college. He witnesses many first-hand reports which are evident through his patents and publications in peer-reviewed journals. His team synthesized a novel compound to treat Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (US Patent US10064841B1, 2018) and developed novel process for the preparation of synergistically active herbal biscuits to treat obesity and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease,. (Indian patent docket no 201741004697).

Research Interest

Mr. Sylvester Darvin’s research focus is on ethnopharmacology, molecular biology, animal physiology with application in drug discovery, and toxicity analysis. Areas of interest include natural products development and synthesis in studies of Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), Early stage of Hepatocellular carcinoma and Obesity.
